Overall rating: 5/5 Spice rating: 2/5 (a little lighter on the spice than book one)
Thank you to Scarlett Press for the advanced copy of Vale of Dreams in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
Vale of Dreams by C. N. Crawford and Alex Rivers is book two of the Fey Spy Academy (Avalon Tower) series. Just to refresh your memory, the three-book Fey Spy Academy series was originally released independently by the authors before being picked up by a traditional publisher. Scarlett Press is now re-releasing these books with beautiful new artwork including a deluxe paperback edition with sprayed edges. Avalon Tower was rereleased in September, Vale of Dreams is coming out December 15th and the final book in the series Lady of the Lake is being released March 16th, 2027.

Full confession before I go any further. This series has absolutely consumed me. I was addicted from the first chapter of Avalon Tower, and I could not stop reading Vale of Dreams either. Every time I told myself I would put it down, I didn't. This series had me reading late into the night. I absolutely loved it.
Okay all, I knew there was more to the mysterious prince, the dream stalker! I ended book one on the edge of my seat after Raphael's capture, and I KNEW the dream stalker prince would play a much bigger role in book two.
I don't want to give anything away, so I'm keeping this review pretty generic. What I can tell you is that Vale of Dreams delivers the mystery, the suspense, and the romantic tension we love in our romantasies.
Publisher's Description
Nia never imagined becoming the fake mistress of a terrifying Fey prince known as the Dream Stalker. But that's exactly what happens when she ventures into Brocéliande to rescue her lover, Raphael. Sometimes, fate has a twisted sense of humor.
Captured by the prince, Nia quickly learns he's a beautiful, living nightmare. He soon discovers her hidden talent—mind control—and gives her no choice but to serve him. Avalon Tower believes it's a good idea, too. Now, Nia is keeping secrets from everyone, and the Dream Stalker remains unaware that she is a spy. His plan? Manipulate ministers, overthrow his father, and annihilate humanity.
Seductive and complex, the prince is a constant threat, always on the verge of getting inside her head. In the Fey palace, courtly intrigue reigns. If Nia can't outsmart the prince, her neck will be the next on the execution block, and humanity will be crushed in his beautiful hands.
Who Should Pick This Up
If book one left you needing answers, be ready to pick this one up in December. It is best read in order, so start with Avalon Tower if you haven't yet. Readers who enjoy fae court intrigue, secrets and double lives, and a mysterious dangerous prince will want to keep this series on their radar.
