Indie Author Feature Policy

We’re launching something new at Mom Needs a Chapter, and we want you to be part of it!

Our upcoming Indie Author Feature Series is designed to spotlight indie romance and romantasy authors (and related genres) in a fun, conversational way that introduces your work to a growing community of passionate readers. Whether you’re launching your debut or have a backlist ready to be discovered, this feature is all about helping readers connect with the author behind the book.

This is a mutually beneficial collaboration—you get visibility, and we get engaging content for the blog. It's not a paid feature or review exchange—just a chance to connect and celebrate indie publishing.

What the Feature Includes:

  • A dedicated blog post highlighting your author journey, your latest or upcoming release, and share your website and socials.

  • A casual Q&A (we'll cover topics like literary influences, favorite reads, and what you're working on) that can be completed via:

    • A written email questionnaire, or

    • A relaxed Zoom interview (your choice!)

  • Optional additions: a giveaway, sneak peek, or discount code if you’d like to share something extra with our readers.

  • Promotion via Mom Needs A Chapter social channels, which may include some, or all of the following:

    • Subscriber newsletter

    • TikTok

    • Facebook

    • Instagram

    • Pinterest

    • YouTube

Media Permissions

  • For the Indie Author Feature blog post, you may provide your headshot, book cover, or other promotional graphic for use in the article.

  • Written authorization (e.g., your cover designer, photographer, or publisher) or proof of copyright ownership is required before we use any images.

You will be asked to confirm this agreement in writing. We cannot publish images without this release for legal reasons.

ARC Review Requests (Optional)

If you’re also looking for honest feedback, you’re welcome to send an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) for review consideration.

Please note:

  • Reviews will be posted separately from the author feature.

  • If a review is published, it can be linked within the feature for visibility.

  • ARC submissions do not guarantee a review, and any reviews posted will reflect our honest opinions.

Social Media Promotion

All featured authors must be comfortable with Mom Needs a Chapter promoting the feature post on our blog and across our social channels. This may include some, or all of the following, when applicable:

  • Subscriber newsletter

  • Instagram

  • Facebook

  • TikTok

  • Pinterest

  • YouTube

We’ll tag you where possible and love when authors reshare!

Compensation Disclosure

This is a non-compensated collaboration:

  • Mom Needs a Chapter does not pay authors for participation in this feature.

  • Likewise, authors will not compensate Mom Needs a Chapter for being featured.

We simply want to uplift great stories and get more eyes on indie books!
